Austin welcomes the new Aquarium opening November of 2013. If you can believe it- Austin was the largest metro city in the country without an Aquarium until recently. It will be open to all ages and will have many activities for children and families.
The Aquarium will have a wide variety of birds, reptiles, and both cold water and tropical fish. It will also feature sharks, fur seals, and the largest collection of Asian small clawed otters in the world. Guests are encouraged to hand feed sharks, rays, birds, and fish. If you are not interested in an interactive exhibit take your time and admire the beautiful corals. With over 3,000 living animals representing habitats from the Oregon shores to remote Indonesian Islands, the experience will instill respect and awe for our aquatic resources.
